Fall Foliage Driving Tours - Brought to you by the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce
1. Case Road/Searles Hill Loop - 8 miles
|Start at 28 North Main Street, Tourism Office. Turn right onto Route 7 and drive up to traffic light, one block. To your right is the 200+ year old Olde Jericho Tavern with large white pillars on porch.||
Make a right turn onto Route 206/West Main Street. Cross Railroad tracks, 400 ft. View Victorian and Federal Style homes dating back to 1804 to your left and right while driving up hill.
Richard Juliand house left on 64 West Main Street (1813 Federal Style). Now the Virginia Rose Bed & Breakfast. View scenery to left and right and town line approaches at .9 miles.
|At 1.7 miles to your right, sharp turn onto Case road. Drive uphill, viewing valley & hilltops on left. Small farmettes and residences along Case Roads. Watch for ducks & geese in road at 2.3 miles before Countryside Auto. Beautiful vistas continue while approaching highest point of Case Road @ 3.2 miles. Make right turn onto Searles Hill Road. More beautiful vistas @ 3.6 miles while driving down valley. You can see 10 miles or more looking Southwest.||
||Note abundance of wild flowers on roadside. Small farms and residences throughout valley; Greek revival and early 20th century architecture dispersed. @ 5.7 miles watch for sharp curve; creek bed on right.|
|@ 6.1 miles entering residential area. Beautiful view
into Delaware county looking southeast at 6.6 miles marker. Watch for
STOP sign @ 6.7 miles. Make a right turn onto County route 38.
Cross Railroad tracks @ 7.0 miles. Old Hickory Antique Center to
immediate right (blue building). Open Monday thru Saturday 10 to 5 and
Sundays 12 to 5.
|Back to Route 7 intersection @ 7.2 miles make right onto Route 7 West . Immediately to your left is the Harmonie Hall Antique Center, oldest standing frame house in Bainbridge dating back to 1801. Harmonie Hall is a 21 room mansion built by Joseph Bush and the Antique Center is in the beautifully restored carriage house. Owner Jack Wootton and his wife allow you to roam in the adjacent formal garden with the recently restored fountain and take a break in their garden lounge area.||
|Leaving Harmonie Hall, you'll be passing by Country Classics
Ice Cream & Grill @ 7.3 miles on your right. Open Monday thru Saturday
11 to 9, Sundays 12 to 9.
Further down the road on your right is Vic's
Money Saver: 106 North Main, Monday thru Saturday 10 to 5. A
bargain store with a wide variety of items, including a large selection of
windows & doors, plumbing supplies, tools and hardware, and other sundry
|Baker's Maple off to right on Freiot Avenue (watch for the
green MAPLE signpost) @7.8 miles. Open Tuesday thru Friday, 10 to 5
and Saturdays from 10 to 1. Syrup, syrup products, honey, gift boxes,
Approaching the 8 mile marker, you are
passing by Great American Food Stores on your right and you are also coming
to the end of your tour.
|Visit our local merchants, restaurants and stores. The Gingerbread House Gift Shop: Open
Tuesday through Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM. unique country and Victorian
gift store, lots of hand crafted items, teddy bears, candles, floral
designs, prints, cat themes, apple themes, Adirondack themes. 14 theme
trees in shop for Fall season. At the Bainbridge Pharmacy, we have
apparel with local imprints, gifts, gift cards, candles, sundries and more.
For a delicious lunch, stop at Bob's Diner, the S&S Cafe, Jerry's Inn, the Olde Jericho Tavern or Rosa's. If you are in a hurry, grab a quick lunch at the Bainbridge Quickway.
